The Baby Padded Play Mat is a soft foam play mat for newborn babies. It is useful up until the time when they are crawling and rolling over.
You can use this for a baby either on their tummy or on their back. The padding makes it great to use on hard floors such as wood or tiles. This construction also helps prevent the corners blowing over in the wind, which can happen with poorly padded play mats. The foam inside is a special grade with internal ‘holes’ that allow water to pass through. This is helpful when washing as most of the water will come out of the mat when in the spin cycle of the washing machine.
The waterproof backing material is a medical-grade vinyl. It helps prevent leaking through the mat. It is also good for helping prevent grass or sand from sticking to it when used at a park, in the garden or at the beach. It can also be easily wiped clean.
The elastic straps attached to the bottom of the mat can be used to secure the rolled up mat and will be hidden underneath the mat when in use. The rolled-up mat is lightweight and easy to carry on outings.
Note that the material cover may appear loose when brand new. This is to allow for any shrinkage that may occur during the first wash.
There are many play mats on the market, sometimes known as PlayGyms or PlayMats, but often these do not have enough padding to be used on hard wooden or tiled floors.
